Our Carers
Our carers are appointed following a very rigorous selection and induction programme. We ensure that each carer has satisfactory Criminal Record Bureau clearance and two positive references from previous employers. Carers are also required to attend an interview where we are able to assess their communication and people skills.
Once candidates have been successful in the selection process all our cares undergo an induction period before they are allocated their own clients. This process entails training on Moving & Handling, First Aid, Infection Control, Health & Safety Awareness and Food Awareness. In addition to the training, new carers accompany our experienced carers on their client calls to make sure that they are supported during their induction process. Once we are satisfied that a new member of staff has experienced a cross-section of work, we will start to allocate clients to them. The work of all of our carers is monitored during their employment with us.
The training does not stop there however; every carer attends training courses on an annual basis which covers all the subjects in the induction period, as well as any other identified training needs that are considered to be necessary to ensure that their skill are updated. Additionally our carers are encouraged to undertake an NVQ 2 in care, all our training needs is provided by our sister company Pentlow Training.
Some of our carers and clients have been with Pentlow Community for 10 years.
